Join us for a morning in the garden thinking and making through histories of colour photography using Madder. During this session, you will learn the gum diazo method; a low-toxicity gum printing process that uses diazo in place of dichromate.

Combining historical photographic and contemporary screen printing techniques to produce photographic images made up of Rubia tinctorum (rose madder) pigments, participants will also learn about the history of analogue colour photography, British colonial rose madder cultivation, it’s history and growing the plants yourself. There will be the option to take home a Rubia tinctorum (rose madder) plantlet at the end of the session.

When: Thursday 26th September, 10-12.30pm.

Where: Hornsey Rise Gardens.

If you are student/unwaged, please contact us for a discount code.
