The Sustainable Darkroom and Luovake invite submissions for a night of experimental cinema this May at Kino Aurora, Finland. We are seeking innovative short films that explore the theme of ecology—whether through their materials, concept, or both. This is an opportunity to showcase works that push the boundaries of ecological filmmaking, with a particular focus on radical and thoughtful approaches to the moving image.
Details:
- Theme: Ecology and the Moving Image.
- Film length: Maximum 15 minutes.
- Eligibility: Open to all filmmakers/artists.
- Submission Deadline: 10th March.
- Notifications: Applicants will be notified by mid-April.
- Event Date: 14th May.
- Program Length: Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes - 2 hours (includes a mid-event break and a panel discussion with filmmakers).
We encourage works made using ecological film processing, analogue techniques, or films engaging with ecological themes in radical and unexpected ways. If in doubt, please contact us for more information.

Submission Requirements:
- Completed short film (under 15 minutes).
- Brief description of your process and how your work connects to the theme.
- Trailer or teasers of unfinished works are accepted, provided the film is finished by the screening date.
What to Expect:
Selected films will be part of a curated evening of experimental cinema. The event will include a panel discussion on ecological filmmaking practices, with speakers to be announced.
